Yoga with Jackie @ Chatham Community Center Teacher Bio In 2024, after practicing yoga for nearly 20 years, Jackie chose to follow her heart to India to study yoga and train to become a yoga instructor. After completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Vinyasa Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, Jackie returned to the United States to teach yoga and share its many benefits with her students. Jackie is a fun-loving, adventurous spirit who leads her life with kindness and compassion. She loves motivating people and encouraging them to believe in themselves.  Jackie teaches Hatha, Vinyasa and restorative yoga as well as meditation and Pranayama.Class Schedule  Classic Hatha YogaMondays, 7pm60 minutes$10 Foundational yoga for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. Hatha yoga is often slower moving than a Vinyasa yoga practice, but it can be challenging, stimulating, or soft, depending on the circumstances. The integration of breath while holding poses with intention and relaxation comprise this branch of practice that encompasses and integrates many forms.Yin/Restorative Yoga with Sound HealingThursdays, 7pm60 minutes $10 Deep relaxation of the body, mind and spirit. Injury prevention, joint health, and restorative energy. Yin/restorative yoga is beneficial to balance a more active practice or decompress after a stressful day. This practice often includes props and floor-based postures that are held for an extended period of time, restoring energy and calming the nervous system. Join Dr. Maggie Curtis from Harbor Strength Physical Therapy for a 45 minute long strength training class. Each class will begin with a dynamic warm up followed by upper and lower body strengthening as well as postural and functional exercises. Classes will utilize various equipment including light and heavy dumbbells, resistance bands and steps. Exercises will be tailored to the individual and will emphasize proper form. Bio- Maggie received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She treats many different patient populations including; sports, pelvic health and orthopedic injuries. Maggie owns Harbor Strength Physical Therapy and provides PT services in client’s homes. She leads fitness classes with an emphasis on strength training, rehabilitation and injury prevention. The PARK Afterschool  Program is for students in grades 3-7 to have a safe, fun and engaging  afterschool experience.  It is also the intent of the program to foster a sense of community and to forge new and lasting friendships among the students attending the program. The PARK program provides a structured environment in which these students will be encouraged to try new activities with their peers, strengthening their social skills, self esteem and leadership potential through physical, social, fun, artistic and educational activities.   Students are grouped by grade: 3rd, 4th and middle school.  Students in grades 3 and 4 may choose from a daily list of options offered for set blocks of time. Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. The PARK Afterschool  Program is for students in grades 3-7 to have a safe, fun and engaging  afterschool experience.  It is also the intent of the program to foster a sense of community and to forge new and lasting friendships among the students attending the program. The PARK program provides a structured environment in which these students will be encouraged to try new activities with their peers, strengthening their social skills, self esteem and leadership potential through physical, social, fun, artistic and educational activities.   Students are grouped by grade: 3rd, 4th and middle school.  Students in grades 3 and 4 may choose from a daily list of options offered for set blocks of time. Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. Join Dr. Maggie Curtis from Harbor Strength Physical Therapy for a 45 minute long strength training class. Each class will begin with a dynamic warm up followed by upper and lower body strengthening as well as postural and functional exercises. Classes will utilize various equipment including light and heavy dumbbells, resistance bands and steps. Exercises will be tailored to the individual and will emphasize proper form. Bio- Maggie received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She treats many different patient populations including; sports, pelvic health and orthopedic injuries. Maggie owns Harbor Strength Physical Therapy and provides PT services in client’s homes. She leads fitness classes with an emphasis on strength training, rehabilitation and injury prevention.
