The PARK Afterschool  Program is for students in grades 3-7 to have a safe, fun and engaging  afterschool experience.  It is also the intent of the program to foster a sense of community and to forge new and lasting friendships among the students attending the program. The PARK program provides a structured environment in which these students will be encouraged to try new activities with their peers, strengthening their social skills, self esteem and leadership potential through physical, social, fun, artistic and educational activities.   Students are grouped by grade: 3rd, 4th and middle school.  Students in grades 3 and 4 may choose from a daily list of options offered for set blocks of time. Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. Yoga with Jackie @ Chatham Community Center Teacher Bio In 2024, after practicing yoga for nearly 20 years, Jackie chose to follow her heart to India to study yoga and train to become a yoga instructor. After completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Vinyasa Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, Jackie returned to the United States to teach yoga and share its many benefits with her students. Jackie is a fun-loving, adventurous spirit who leads her life with kindness and compassion. She loves motivating people and encouraging them to believe in themselves.  Jackie teaches Hatha, Vinyasa and restorative yoga as well as meditation and Pranayama.Class Schedule  Classic Hatha YogaMondays, 7pm60 minutes$10 Foundational yoga for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. This practice often includes props and floor-based postures that are held for an extended period of time, restoring energy and calming the nervous system. Enter and exit using the gate closest to to your court. Do not walk onto an active court. If your ball strays onto another court, call “ball on court” and wait for the ball to be returned to you. If your game is interrupted by a stray ball, stop and replay the point. Demonstrate good sportsmanship: Be respectful and courteous to your opponents and partners. Line calls are made solely by the receiving team; give your opponents the benefit of the doubt and accept their line calls graciously. Call any foot faults at the baseline or kitchen line committed by you or your partner. Play your best game but remember this is a recreational sport. Tailor your intensity of play to the skill/experience of your opponents and help newer players learn the game. Keep your cool on and off the court. Refrain from verbal outbursts or profanity. Be aware that lessons, league play, and tournaments are not permitted without prior approval from the Chatham Beaches & Recreation Department.

Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. Intermediate – Approx 12-3pm. (6 men and 6 women teams) – knows game basics, competent with serve, volley and net play.  You are looking to enjoy some socialization on the court in a fairly casual atmosphere. Advanced Intermediate – Approx 830-12noon. (6 men and 6 women teams) - can hit a mix of shots and uses advanced strategies and can withstand/execute faster-paced play as well as attempting to control pace-of-play.  Registration open to 48 current members registered for indoor or outdoor play and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis with a short wait list.  Although every attempt will be made to recognize self-identified level of play, tournament organizers retain the right to shift players to fill all available spots. Tournament proceeds will be donated to the Chatham Children’ Fund. The PARK Afterschool  Program is for students in grades 3-7 to have a safe, fun and engaging  afterschool experience.  It is also the intent of the program to foster a sense of community and to forge new and lasting friendships among the students attending the program. The PARK program provides a structured environment in which these students will be encouraged to try new activities with their peers, strengthening their social skills, self esteem and leadership potential through physical, social, fun, artistic and educational activities.   Students are grouped by grade: 3rd, 4th and middle school.  Students in grades 3 and 4 may choose from a daily list of options offered for set blocks of time. Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. Strike a balance between level-specific and mixed-level games while being sensitive to the preferences of others. If people are waiting for a court and/or partners, Play doubles only (no singles). Score to 9, win by 2. Relinquish the court after completing your game and allow others to play. There are gates at all four corners of the courts. Enter and exit using the gate closest to to your court. Do not walk onto an active court. If your ball strays onto another court, call “ball on court” and wait for the ball to be returned to you. If your game is interrupted by a stray ball, stop and replay the point. Demonstrate good sportsmanship: Be respectful and courteous to your opponents and partners. Line calls are made solely by the receiving team; give your opponents the benefit of the doubt and accept their line calls graciously. Call any foot faults at the baseline or kitchen line committed by you or your partner. Play your best game but remember this is a recreational sport. Tailor your intensity of play to the skill/experience of your opponents and help newer players learn the game. Keep your cool on and off the court. Refrain from verbal outbursts or profanity. Be aware that lessons, league play, and tournaments are not permitted without prior approval from the Chatham Beaches & Recreation Department.

The PARK Afterschool  Program is for students in grades 3-7 to have a safe, fun and engaging  afterschool experience.  It is also the intent of the program to foster a sense of community and to forge new and lasting friendships among the students attending the program. The PARK program provides a structured environment in which these students will be encouraged to try new activities with their peers, strengthening their social skills, self esteem and leadership potential through physical, social, fun, artistic and educational activities.   Students are grouped by grade: 3rd, 4th and middle school.  Students in grades 3 and 4 may choose from a daily list of options offered for set blocks of time. Groups will be determined by interest and will be organized and directed by program staff. All activities/ choices will be supervised and offer an engaging mix of active and passive recreational pursuits. The program provides students with a healthy and nutritious snack, as well as providing time for students to work on homework.   Students may participate in this program on a daily as needed basis ranging from one day of coverage per week up to a full five days of coverage per week from the end of the school day until 5:30 P.M.    Cost for elementary school students is $15, and $10 for middle school students.SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO MEET REQUIREMENTS!Contact Sharon Stark at sstark@chatham-ma.gov
